Mi Música no conquista, libera...

Lu Freitas

Luis Adolfo Freitas, known by everyone as LU, half Portuguese, half French/Venezuelan. The Venezuelan born producer and songwriter Lu Freitas has already achieved plenty of success, as one of the Latin Folk/Fusion Rock genre’s music producer and musician.

As a musician, he has worked with a variety of notable Latin American artists including Aterciopelados, Jarabe de Palo, Molotov, Los Pericos, Desorden Publico, Amigos Invisibles, King Chango and many others. Lu began working behind the scenes in the mid-90s producing, songwriting, playing drums and percussion tracks for his band and other artists. It was his work with Rebelion Andina in 1998 on the number one single, “La Manada,” that would bring Freitas to the forefront of the music industry. It was in the top three positions for that year in the most recognized national band festivals and music contests.

“Until my work with Rebelion, I remained pretty much behind the scenes,” said Freitas. Still under age in 2001 he moved to the U.S. to pursue higher education, graduating at SAE in Electronic Music Production. He continued to work in the studio doing collaborations and playing live drums and percussion among Miami EDM Djs. These relationships would prove crucial in the launching of his solo career and enabled him to quickly move from behind the console to the stage.

From late 2015 into 2017, Lu Freitas has multiple EDM tracks and Latin singles that he has been working on simultaneously. These include upcoming EDM track Lu Freitas and Xio’s featuring VITA “Warriors” and his very own single "Yo quiero ser."

Integrating his solo career with his producer side is something Lu Freitas handle carefully. “I try to keep it proportional. When I’m in the studio, I usually let the “producer” take the protagonist role. I’m often in producer/percussive mode: ON… making sure what is being played gives the track best,” said Lu.

In an industry that is often more interested in the profit than artistic merit, “It’s not who or who might know you, it’s what you know and humility the ingredients to realization.” Lu Freitas has managed to remain strong in his desire to reach his unique sound. Lu Freitas has shown that it is possible to find a happy medium between commercialism and creativity. “Every time I produce, write or compose, I’m trying to generate something new, I recognize what’s worked in the past but I don’t want to get attached, I love to create, innovate and discover new paths to put my message out there for the universe to hear it,” he said.

“When I’m writing new music, I’m aware of the industry trends but I don’t write my work based on that. I write for the soul. Whatever is inspiring me at that point is what mandate the results.” said Freitas.

The music industry is changing fast and with his confirmed innovative approach to music production; Lu Freitas will continue to be in the vanguard as he maintains to produce new music. Music that is original, particular and extraordinary.
